Ingredients
4 large scones or 6 small scones
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons orange zest
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
- 1 tablespoon buttermilk
- Turbinado sugar for sprinkling over scones
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- Chopped almonds for sprinkling over glaze, if desired
