  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 medium ripe bananas, mashed (1 cup)
  • 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar (for topping)

Store your banana nut bread on the counter in a sealed airtight container for up to 3 days. You can also wrap the cooled bread in plastic wrap.
This is also an amazing recipe for freezing! Wrap loaves well in plastic wrap, then foil and freeze them for up to 3 months. You can also freeze individual slices.
