  • ½ cup homemade or light mayo (I prefer Duke’s brand)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • ½ cup packed basil leaves
  • 3 green onions (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (or 1 lemon)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 loaf soft ciabatta or focaccia bread (cut in half lengthwise)
  • ½ lb thinly sliced deli turkey
  • 4-5 slices havarti or Swiss cheese
  • 1 small avocado (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 red onion (thinly sliced)
  • ½ English cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup alfalfa sprouts
  • 8 bamboo or long toothpicks (optional for serving)
