Ingredients
8-12 servings
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 (9-ounce) packages thin chocolate wafer cookies [or, make your own!]
- Chocolate shavings, to finish

Preparation
Step 1
In a large bowl, beat cream, sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form.
Step 2
On a flat serving plate, arrange 7 cookies side by side in a circle, keeping 1 cookie in the center.
Step 3
Spread with 1/2 cup whipped cream, making a 7-inch circle. Repeat with remaining cookies and cream, making 11 layers of cookies and ending with a layer of cream (there will be a few cookies left over).
Step 4
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Step 5
To serve, coat top lightly with chocolate shavings.

In response to the July 2023 news that Nabisco is discontinuing its Famous Chocolate Wafers, there is a surge in comments looking for alternatives that are not homemade. You might try other similar cookies as substitutes.
The cake requires 3 cups of heavy cream, so it's quite rich!
