How to Hard-Boil an Egg

Preparation
Step 1
Bring a pot of water deep enough to cover large eggs, cold from the fridge, to a boil.
Step 2
Gently lower egg(s) into it using a spoon to avoid burns or cracking.
Step 3
Cook for 10 minutes, or 9 minutes for slightly softer centers.
Step 4
Plunge them in ice water until fully cold, about 15 minutes. Add more ice if needed to keep the water cold.
Step 5
Peel the eggs easily, or peel under running water if there's resistance.
