Chef's notes

Vodka has a neutral flavor which gives this cocktail a smooth, clean base and allows the other flavors to shine. I recommend a mid-range vodka, such as Absolut, Grey Goose or Tito’s.
Kahlúa is the most popular coffee liqueur used for White Russians, which adds a rich, slightly-sweet, vanilla-caramel coffee flavor that pairs perfectly with the cream. Other coffee liqueur options could include Mr. Black or Tia Maria.
Heavy cream gives a velvety texture to this cocktail and balances out the bold flavors of the coffee liqueur and vodka. If you’d like a slightly lighter alternative, feel free to use half and half instead. (I don’t recommend milk, which is too thin.)
