  • optional: 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 8 ounce brick cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chef’s notes

The espresso powder helps bring out the flavor of the chocolate but can be omitted if preferred.
Wrap the chocolate roll tightly in plastic wrap to ensure freshness.
