- 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation
Step 1
In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

Add breadcrumbs, onion, cilantro, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Add the beaten egg to the mixture and stir until well combined.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
