- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish and set aside.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in melted butter until a crumbly mixture forms.
Step 3
Press half of the oat mixture into the prepared baking dish to form a crust.
Step 4
In another bowl, toss together berries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice until well combined.
Step 5
Spread the berry mixture evenly over the crust in the baking dish.
Step 6
Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the top of the berries, pressing down gently.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the berries are bubbly.
Step 8
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Chef's notes
For a nutty twist, add 1/4 cup chopped nuts to the oat mixture.
You can use frozen berries; just be sure to thaw them first and drain any excess liquid.
