- 24 pitted Medjool dates
- 7.7 oz blanched hazelnuts
- 6 tablespoons of cacao powder
- 2 tablespoons of date syrup

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180C (350F), fan setting.
Step 2
Roast the hazelnuts in the oven for 5-10 minutes until golden, take out and leave to cool.
Step 3
Once cool, simply blend the roasted hazelnuts in a food processor until they form a crumbly mixture.
Step 4
Add the dates and blend again before adding the cacao and date syrup.
Step 5
Press the mixture into a lined baking tray (we use 17cm x 22cm) and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Step 6
If using chocolate, simply melt the chocolate over a very low heat, constantly stirring to ensure the chocolate doesn’t burn. Once melted, spoon the chocolate over the top of the brownie mixture and leave to one side to set.
Step 7
Once set, cut into 20 equal brownies.
